Student Involvement

The Ignite Institute, powered by LeaderShape, is a leadership retreat for NIU students. The four-day retreat will take place at the Stronghold Camp and Retreat Center in Oregon, Illinois. The Ignite Institute will take place from May 13-16, 2024.

It’s a valuable opportunity to:

• Build skills to help you lead with passion and integrity
• Explore your personal values in the context of your community
• Develop your vision for creating a more equitable and caring society

There is no cost to participate. Transportation, meals, lodging and materials will be provided.

Eligibility and Registration

Participation in the Ignite Institute is free. However, if you register for the institute and do not end up attending, your student account will be charged $150. Registration will be open until April 5 or until spots are filled.

Activities and Themes

You’ll participate in self-assessment, simulations and small group discussions led by trained facilitators, as well as other activities.

Each day focuses on a specific theme:

• Day one: Living and Leading with Integrity
• Day two: Challenging What Is, Looking to What Could Be
• Day three: The Value of One, The Power of All
• Day four: Living in Possibility
